10 Favorite Things Thursday

Today's topic is: Favorite Things

1- Favorite Accessory: My big silver hoops
2- Favorite Song: Don't really have one, although right now I really like "Rolling In the Deep" by Adele
3- Favorite Drink:  Water with lemon
4- Favorite Color: Aqua/blue-green/Robin's Egg Blue/Tiffany blue-any color that looks like the color of the ocean- but NOT TEAL!!! Ever since I watched The Wedding Planner (Jennifer Lopez, Matthew McConnaughey) and she says, "She chose teal for her bridesmaids dresses! Teal! The color of gangrene!!"- I just can't bring myself to include the color of gangrene!
5- Favorite Holiday: Christmas, followed by Halloween- not the scary Halloween though. The kid friendly, fun to decorate with your kids Halloween. Ooohhh...and Memorial Day- hello!! Beach time!!
6- Favorite memory: I really don't think I can pin this down to just one, so I will say this: I remember the very first time I went back to Peru after my family moved back to the United States. I remember the sounds, the sights, even the smell of that first trip back home.
Also- Saturdays and Sundays when friends and family would go to our house and my parents would grill and we'd play music and dance and just hang out at my house.
7. Favorite way to spend Saturday: Getting up early and spending the day at the beach. Right now we don't live anywhere close to the beach so I will also add lounging around with my husband and our boys, watching movies, or doing something outside, together.
8. Favorite movie: Drama- The Godfather & The DaVinci Code~ Girly movies- You've Got Mail, The Wedding Planner, How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days
9. Favorite Food: just about anything Peruvian or Italian or homemade pizza ( I have a great recipe for the dough and then you add fresh ingredients- best pizza ever!)
10. Favorite store: Target

and for fun, 11. Favorite desert: Haagen Dazs Dulce de Leche ice cream, Key Lime Pie, Apple or New York Style Cheesecake

Vintage Telephone Card

The sentiment is in French, talking about chocolate, with a phone below it...hhhmmm...In my perfect world, you'd be able to call a candy shop ahead of time to pick up your order of luscious French & Swiss chocolates!!
I really like the vintage look lately, and that is the look I was going for here. The card base is made from rustic cream cardstock- it has little specks throughout. The edges have been inked and distressed. The telephone image has been adhered, not stamped, and the sentiment stamped in a deep red ink. It is ready to ship & available in my shop.

I hope you had a great weekend!!

Lily of the Valley

Hi there! Quick post today, I can hear Dominic waking up, my husband is waiting for me downstairs so we can watch a movie (not sure how much I can watch- my allergies are killing me & one eye is beginning to swell. Not fun!!!).  Matt & I are so happy, Sebastian & Alex got some serious haircuts today. I actually had a mommy moment this time, Sebastian went from looking like he was 10 to looking his age- 13- maybe older, in less than 10 minutes. We are not fans of long hair, or the hair in the face (sorry Justin Bieber!), and not that theirs was in their face like that, but it was long. Anyway, I got a little choked up, they both look older!!! My husband just shook his head.
Anyway, I added one of my favorite cards to the Etsy shop today. I never sent it out like I intended, and I can't submit it to a magazine b/c it has been online before. So...off to the Etsy shop it goes! Hope you like it!!

Have a great weekend!!!

3 Things Thursday- on a Friday (A little late!!)

I am a little late with this post, but better late than never!
Today's theme was 3 reasons you like ____________.

I chose "waking up early" because I didn't want to use the usual answers...

1. I actually LOVE waking up early b/c I enjoy seeing the sun come up...
2. The quiet...early morning quiet is different from late night quiet...
3. Everything is new again, you see your loved ones, even your pet, sleeping peacefully...there's just something about seeing living things begin to wake up each day.
4. I love that MOST of the time I have time do some things before everyone else wakes up.
5. Waking up early means you can work out and be finished without interruptions (I workout at home).
6. Waking up early motivates me to do more than when I get up late. (I'd rather get things done first thing..)
7. I like waking up early b/c sleeping past 7 feels like I slept until noon!
8. Waking up early gives me time to do something I really love- read. Or, if I am lucky, to create something (that one is kind of tough b/c  that means I have to move around getting things out- and unfortunately that is when someone will wake up!)
That is all I can think of right now, mainly b/c I can't sleep, it is 1 am Friday morning...sorry Stephanie!! I know it is late but really, better late than never!!!

I'd love to hear your list of things you like!!! Feel free to use Stephanie's logo- and visit her blog to let her know you participated!!!

Newspaper Articles and Awesome Conversation

So I have this little dream...to have my cards published in the "Mother of Papercrafting Magazines" (at least to me anyway). Still hasn't happened, but I am definitely not giving up. Several weeks ago, a friend of mine saw one of my posts on my Facebook page and became interested in Etsy.com. Robin began checking out the site, and not too long after that, asked if I'd be interested in being interviewed for our local paper. Of course, I said yes. Well, more like an excited, "HECK YEAH!!" So she came over one day and our interview was probably about 3 hours long. Hang on, let me explain....our sons, Alex & Collin, have been in the same class for a few years, and we know each other through the various activities our kids are in. Robin has also done mission work in Peru, so of course, I LOVE her. The interview wasn't that long, but it ended up being an afternoon of awesome conversation with a very interesting person. While Robin was at my house, we talked, laughed, I showed her how I made a few things, or explained the process, etc. During all of that though, Dominic played, I fed him, but eventually, he wanted to be held. I did what is basically 2nd nature & I picked him up. Because my hands were busy, trying show Robin what I do for my crafts, I put him in his Snugli & there he was on my back, happy as can be. The hilarious thing is that he is in the newspaper photo with me. I loved it!!! It reminded me however of the women you see in Peru (or really anywhere in the world, but I am saying Peru, b/c it is my homeland). I laughed when I saw it and wished I'd had one of the multi-colored slings that they use. You can see a picture here of what I mean: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28371348@N06/5376149991/  The photo was actually taken in Bolivia- because I couldn't find one of one in Peru. Check out some of the other photo in Diego Rayaces photo stream while you are there. Very nice!! His blog is also full of beautiful photographs taken during his travels in South America. http://diegoloblog.blogspot.com/
Without further ado, here is the link to the newspaper article. Thank you Robin so much!!! We should get together again just because!! http://www.cadizrecord.com/articles/stories/public/201104/06/4iit_news.html

Hmmm...Which outfit should I wear??

My latest card set...inspired my sisters & our different personalities. My sister Gabriela says the Sunday outfit looks like me. I think that's funny, b/c I don't own a single thing that looks like that. Haha!! My legs are too skinny for capris!!! I have a GORGEOUS dress from White House/Black Market that is more Friday's style that I LO-OVE....the photo is from May 2007, when our oldest son Sebastian made his First Communion & Confirmation in Las Vegas. We had no idea then we'd eventually become a family of 5!!

Want to see more? This set- which happens to be my favorite right now- is listed in my Etsy shop, where you will see a few more photos of this lovely card set.
